Scholastic Scope magazine is a powerful tool for young readers and writers. Each issue features engaging articles, short stories, and poems that challenge students to think critically and creatively. Our goal is to help students develop their reading comprehension, critical thinking and writing skills while expanding their knowledge and understanding of the world around our students.
This class uses Scholastic Scope as the basis for discussion and writing assignments. We will read and analyze the articles and stories in the magazine, discuss the topics and ideas presented, and use them as inspiration for our own writing.

Book Club

This book club is designed to be a fun and engaging way to dive deeper into literature and share students' thoughts and opinions with their peers. Each month, we will choose a book to read together and discuss during our meetings. We encourage students to share their ideas and ask questions, as this will help them gain a deeper understanding of the book and its themes.

Book Publishing (Photo Journals - 8th~12th grades)
In this class, students will learn the art of photography, including composition, lighting, and the use of different camera settings to capture stunning images. Students will also develop their writing skills by crafting essays that complement their photographs and convey their message to their audience.
Together, we will explore the power of visual storytelling and book publishing. Students will learn how to compile their photographs and essays into a cohesive narrative that tells a story and engages their readers.
Our goal is to help students develop their creative voice and style while also gaining practical skills in photography, writing, and book publishing. By the end of this class, students will have created a stunning photo journal book that they can be proud of and share with others.
